Owen Chairs Cambrian Rail Project Meeting
28 June 2010
Owen Paterson chaired another of his regular meetings to discuss the Cambrian Heritage Railways Project on Monday at Oswestry Station. Owen was pleased to learn that the merger of the two societies has been successful and members of the previous two groups are working well together, providing a more coherent response and approach to dealing with Government agencies.
The group was able to report that volunteers are going head with the work to clear the line between the station and the Gas Works bridge.
Owen said “I was pleased to hear the positive news that Shropshire Council have made progress on the purchase of the Gobowen Coal Yard which is vital for both the project and commuters using Gobowen station. The priority for the coming months is to secure the Transport and Works Act Order and I look forward to discussing progress on this and other matters at the next meeting.”
