11 January 2010
Commenting on Peter Robinson’s decision to temporarily stand aside as First Minister, Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Owen Paterson said: “In view of the nature of the allegations, Peter Robinson has done the right thing by temporarily standing aside. Northern Ireland needs effective devolved government and I congratulate Arlene Foster on her interim appointment enabling the Executive to focus on the important issues facing the people of Northern Ireland.”
